Fabulous Summer Fashion & Skin!!

It's summer. A great season to show off some colours, colours and colours!

That's how I was feeling and was so excited when I found this outfit in Freda Fine Fashion, a store that was like a colour palette with fabulous dresses that had such awesome colours. And I am one of those that just don't think throwing colours is good. Colours have to be used in good combination and this is what was so great about this store. Of course, there are many outfits with conventional colours too at Freda Fine Fashion, but if you want to be different and stand out in a crowd, a combination of bright colours that is done in a tasteful yet daring style is the answer.

A day or two after I found this outfit, I came a cross an absolutely great skin store that just opened a few months ago, Lion Skins. I friend of mine had told me back in April or May that her friend was opening a skin store so I did know about a new store that was just going to open. But in all honesty, there are so many skin stores that I didn't really think too much about it.

When I received a notice that this store was going to be having a runway show, the name rang a bell. I was also intrigued to see how a skin brand would do a runway show too. So I decided to go and see for myself.

O...M...G......

It came almost as a shock to see the arrays of colours used amongst more normal, or should I say more "every day use" type skins. It is true that such daring and bold colours for make-up will be harder to use as they need to be matched with the right colour outfits. But if you do find a match, BINGO!! You can achieve such a stunning look for a special occasion or a runway show. Oh let me add that any of her more "every day use" skins are great too! But I must say, I got over excited over her colour lines. :P

Congratulations Lion on your great and stunning skin line! I am sure you will do great!!

So....without further due, let me show you this great match I found with a outfit from Freda Fine Fashion and skin from Lion Skins.

Jems by Maeve

Just look at this beautiful jewellery designed by Maeve Kilara, a fellow model at Premiere....
Maeve Kilara has designed the most gorgeous art deco jewellery, perfect for a 20's style outfit, or just to add a bit of classic glamour to a modern outfit.  This one above is the Flapper Silver Set, featuring this lovely long beaded necklace, and stunning drop earrings.

This above is one of my favourites.  Just look at the stunning detail of the lace choker.  It is called the Art Deco Cascade Gold Set (also comes in silver).  Its such a beautiful choker with matching earrings.
if you cant find any of these on the sim - please IM her to buy direct

this one is called Moonstone Whimsy, so of course i had to take the picture against the night sky!  again there is such beautiful detail in the choker with matching earrings.

Sexy Sheer Mermaid Dress

Some of you may be aware but "azul", a formal wear brand by Mami Jewell, has recently merged with "Styles of edo" by edo Tone, a men's formal wear brand, creating a renewed Styles of edo that now caters to the needs of both male and female avatars. What has not changed is the exquisite quality and the details of the texture used.

Mami had launched this mermaid dress, SIREN, in a silky texture in black, red and blue with a bold cut on the side that runs from the bottom to all the way up to the bodice, leaving a mere string to keep both parts together. But now she has a sheer version!! I have a picture of her regular version so you can compare the two and choose which of the two you like better.

I matched this up with jewelry from Alienbear and a very loose updo from Here Comes Trouble. Shoes are from Haysuriza, which is one of the stores I love also for the fine texture that is used.

It'll be hard to beat the sexiness of this dress so if you have a romantic night out in your plan over the weekend with your loved one, get ready for it with this outfit!

A Rider's Jacket from "sey"

You might be wondering why a rider's jacket in summer. Well, even when it's really hot, I always wear long sleeve rider's jackets when I ride motorcycles for obvious safety reasons. So when I saw this jacket, I just had to have it! The details in the jacket is quite awesome as well as the texture. You get a women's size and a men's size in a set and you can choose between silver metal parts and gold metal parts and yes of course the colour of the jacket. I chose the red one with silver metal parts.

I matched it up with a pair of jeans from WMD. It has a japanese kanji "ai (love)" printed in the front, and "LOVE" in English on the back pocket. How sweet!!

I also wore this cool sunglass from Ottico, my fav sunglass store. It has a unique design on the sides and what I like most about this store is that all glasses and sunglasses have demos you can try on. So you can actually see the size or how it matches your face before you invest your lindens.

The skin is from Free Speerit. The usual one I wear has really red lip colour which won't look right in casual looks like what I have today, so I wore Smokey Red in the Sara series to give me a paler lip colour but red eye shadow for a more fun look.

Rider's Jacket: sey, Lady's Rider's Jacket、silver/red
Jeans: WMD, "R" Love Kanji Jeans, low rise
Boots: Maitreya Main Store & *M*A*ii*K*I, Boot alicious、red (without socks)
Sunglasses: Ottico, numero 39
Earrings: MEZZO, Silver Crosses Necklace & Pierce Set (only wore earrings)
Hair: Truth, Shelley (black)
Skin: Free Speerit, Sara tone, Smokey Red
Nails: Fleur, Glitter Silver nails

Yes, it's Discord again!!! Whoooot!

Yup it's me and Discord again. One of my fav Japanese stores when I don't feel like wearing formal gowns. The outfits here are avanguard, a bit grunge, unique and what's best, so reasonable!

This red outfit, RETSU-ZEN, for example is being sold for ONLY 99L! And look at the fine details! I also love how the prim parts move as I walk. RETSU-ZEN comes in 6 colours. Note how the "obi (the ribbon part)" and the bottom prim parts add such movement to the outfit. The rear view is quite striking too.

I am wearing this with Discord's newly released SOKU-RI sandals. Discord outfits have so much impact that a regular pair of sandals or shoes will be hard to match. But these sandals match perfectly and it comes with a colour changing feature where you can click on each shoe to change the colour into a total of 8 colours. So if you have one pair, you can match it up with any of Discord's outfits in the store. I also love the small details like the tiny charm of a chain that is added just for fun. This awesome sandal is a whopping 120L! Not bad at all!

The necklace and earrings I am wearing are from RYCA. I needed something in silver colour, as the outfit has a bit of silver around the chest area, and something with enough volume so it won't get buried under the dynamic impact RETSU-ZEN has.

Outfit: Discord, RETSU-ZEN red
Sandal: Discord, SOKU-RI (colour changing, 8 colours)
Necklace: RYCA, Crown Platinum
Earrings: RYCA, freebies (both gold and silver earrings come in this set)
Hair: Discord, prim hair KISARAGI black

They also go great with this outfit from Cubic Effect (which featured in the Premiere show as video'd below - see me and Kay are never too far away!) worn with one of my favourite hair-do's from Shop Seu and my skin from Blowpop

The Amazing Story of the last Fishook Dress

CLARABELLE CAZALET'S COMMENTS...
Wow! What a night. Sunday 13th July was the night that Eshi Otawara auctioned off her last ever Fishook Dress for the Relay For Life charity supporting Cancer.

Kay and I were at the auction both intent that either one of us were going to try to bid for the dress, not only because it is such an amazing dress, but also because it is a cause that is close to our hearts as there have been too many people close to us suffering from this horrible disease. Kay had already let me go for it, as she previously had a limited edition Chambre du Chocolat dress - Juliet.

The bidding was getting incredibly high – it was between myself and Zoeanastasia. I couldn’t go any further as budget would not allow so it was about to go to Zoe, then stealth like Kay stepped in and took the bidding way beyond anything we all had imagined. My respect goes well and truly over to Kay.

So Kay triumphed and got the dress, and gave an amazing donation to RFL through doing this. Eshi kindly gave this to her as transferable so that both she and I could wear it and blog it on our new blog “The Style File”. With the condition that we only send it to a third party if that third party is RFL to auction again in a few years. This making this dress even more special and unique.

Here we show the beauty of the dress (with thanks to Elysium Eilde for capturing this in her amazing way), and show how it can look on two different models with very different looks.

Clara wears it with:
Skin: Blowpop ‘Tuesday’ Honey (3a Aden in Black#1)blk (btw full love goes to Annyka as blowpop skins are the most amazing skins in SL!
Hair: MMSHair ‘Hera’ Natural Blonde – from the new range at Minnu
Shoes (not seen but still important!): Maitreya ‘Virtue’ patent black – limited editions from the Footwear Expo
Earrings: Diamonde Bead Earrings
Necklace: Muse ‘Chatelaine Collection Choker (silver)

KAY FAIREY'S COMMENTS...
The RFL charity events have been taking place in many forms and styles all across the SL sims and I have been participating in as many as my resource allows, meaning time and money. I just lost my mother quite recently from liver cancer which started from hepatitus almost 12 years ago. It was a long and sad process as we all watched our beloved mother weaken with no hope for a cure. What was even more sad was to see my father doing everything he could in his power to give maybe one extra day to my mother's life. And it was sad to see the two argue over whether they should continue with the fight. My mother was tired and she just wanted to drop everything and die in peace. My father didn't want her to go through the rough treatments she was under but at the same time did not want to loose her. The whole thing was just so sad, depressive and I have never felt so helpless in my life.

And after putting up a brave and hopeless battle against the malicious desease, my mother finally gave in....and my father was left alone after so many years of loving and caring for my mother. On the day of the funeral, I did my mother's make up. It was her last "show" so I wanted her to be as pretty as possible. When I was done, I called my father to come see her. The moment he saw her, he just stood there, speechless for a long time. When he finally spoke, he said "she is so beautiful. I will marry her again in heaven." She could have lived longer if there was a cure for cancer...if there were no cancer on this earth. I was just crushed with sadness not only from the loss of my mother, but also from thinking what my father was going through.

July 13 to 16 was OBON in Tokyo, Japan, where I am from (some regions designate August for OBON). It is traditionally believed that the souls of the deceased return to their families. That day, July 13th was the day of that auction.

So before I even entered the room, I was prepared to donate a fairly big (of course, I never imagined it would be THAT big) sum to RFL. How nice it would be if I can make a donation AND get a few nice dresses I can enjoy wearing in SL. I had two outfits I was going to try to bid for, maybe three depending on how much I had to pay for them.

But......

OMG, Eshi's Fishhook dress got into a heated bidding and the price sky rocketed in no time. I knew how much Clarabelle also wanted the dress so I was going to step down and let Clarabelle go for it. I sat there in silence, not even uttering a word except for a short IM to Clarabelle telling her that I won't bid as I wanted her to walk away with the dress but to let me know if she had to step down as the bidding prices were reaching quite incredible levels already. At the same time, I was thinking...what should I do if Clarabelle decides to give up? If I am to take over, I will certainly have to give up bidding on anything else.

When Clarabelle IM'd me saying she was going to step down, the price was already reaching 300K. There was no time to think. I decided to step in, forget the other outfits and forget about going on a vacation this summer (oh dear....). After a lot of "omgs". "whoas" and "faints" from the audience, the auction finally came to an end when the price reached 460,000L. To my surprise, I was quite calm throughout this whole process, constantly checking with a currency converter I had on my screen as to how much it was now and how much more I can go if I had to. I felt that mother was with me that day helping me to think straight.

I know this is a LOT for a virtual item but not even a granule of sand when it comes to what is needed to fight cancer but we have to start somewhere and even a penny helps. I am very happy that I was able to donate this to a good cause. I would rather spend it in this manner than to spend it over a trip. I can always go somewhere next summer.

I take this opportunity to thank the orgainisers and to Eshi, who have decided to sell just one more piece of this awesome piece of SL art. It was certainly something worth getting for the donation. Last but not least, I thank all the readers for reading such a long write up.

And this is the "legendary" dress by Eshi Otawara with photographs taken by Elysium Eilde of Second Look Studio. The pictures are results of a collaboration between two very talented women which both Clarabelle and I feel honoured and proud to be associated with.
